Are you an experienced Observability Engineer looking to play a pivotal role in enhancing service performance, resilience and operational excellence across a complex technology estate?
We're working with a large-scale organisation undergoing significant technology transformation and investment, seeking an Observability Engineer to lead and mature its observability capability across infrastructure, platforms, networks and applications.
The Role
As the Observability Engineer, you'll take ownership of the monitoring and observability landscape, ensuring critical services are measurable, visible and proactively managed through effective telemetry, alerting, reporting and analytics.
Working closely with Service Delivery, Infrastructure and Engineering teams, you'll embed observability best practices across both existing and new services, enabling data-driven decision making and continuous service improvement.
You’ll be responsible for developing meaningful dashboards, optimising alerting strategies, supporting incident resolution, and driving operational excellence through improved visibility and insight.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement and continuously improve enterprise-wide observability capabilities.
Manage and optimise monitoring, telemetry and alerting platforms.
Develop dashboards and reporting that provide meaningful operational insights.
Support incident, problem and major incident processes through effective monitoring and analysis.
Establish observability standards and best practices across technology teams.
Drive continuous improvement through trend analysis and service performance data.
Support service transitions, ensuring observability is embedded from day one.
Act as the subject matter expert for observability and monitoring technologies.
About You
You’ll possess strong technical knowledge across infrastructure, cloud platforms and enterprise technologies, alongside hands‑on experience building and operating observability solutions within complex environments.
You’ll have experience with:
Observability, monitoring and telemetry platforms.
Metrics, logs and distributed tracing.
Dashboard creation, alerting and reporting.
Infrastructure, network and application performance monitoring.
Hybrid technology environments incorporating on‑premise and cloud platforms.
Service availability, resilience and operational performance improvement.
Incident management, root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
Experience supporting technologies such as Azure, VMware, Hyper‑V, Veeam, dHCI platforms and enterprise infrastructure environments would be highly advantageous.
