Job Description

Financial Controller

  • Location: East London
  • Job Type: Full-time, Permanent (Office based)
  • Salary: Circa £80,000 plus benefit

Reed Finance is partnering with a dynamic and rapidly growing construction specialist known for delivering high-quality projects across the UK and Europe, who are seeking to add an ambitious and commercially minded Financial Controller to their finance team.

This role will be overseeing the finance function and play a key role in supporting operational and commercial decision-making.

Successful individuals will be a fully qualified Accountant with 3-5 years post qualified with a strong background working within the construction or similar industry.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Manage the day-to-day finance function and oversee all accounting operations.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts for the group.
  • Lead and oversee month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Manage the consolidation and reporting of six group entities.
  • Prepare annual statutory accounts and support external audit requirements.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management across the group.
  • Monitor project performance, profitability, and financial risk.
  • Business partner with project managers, quantity surveyors, and operational teams.
  • Ensure accurate preparation and submission of VAT returns.
  • Manage and maintain compliance with CIS regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Develop and improve financial controls, reporting processes, and systems.
  • Manage and mentor finance team members where applicable.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
  • 3-5 years post-qualified experience.
  • Ideally practice trained with 2-3 years industry experience.
  • Strong construction sector experience is essential.
  • Ideally experience producing consolidated accounts for a multi-entity group.
  • Experience managing budgets, forecasts, and cash flow.
  • Sound understanding of CIS regulations and VAT reporting.
  • Strong stakeholder management and business partnering skills.
  • Commercially focused with excellent communication skills.
