SEND Teaching Assistant

SEND Teaching Assistant – Specialist SEND School, Birmingham£95–£110 per day | Full Time | Long-Term Opportunity
Are you a compassionate, patient and proactive SEND Teaching Assistant looking to make a genuine difference in a specialist school setting?

First For Education is recruiting a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive specialist SEND school in Birmingham, working with pupils with a range of additional needs.
This is a full-time position supporting pupils who require additional help with their learning, communication and personal development.

You'll be joining an experienced and welcoming team, with access to specialist SEND training and CPD, making this a great opportunity whether you already have SEND experience or are looking to further develop your skills within a specialist setting.

What you'll be doing:

• Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups
• Assisting with learning activities and personal development
• Supporting communication, behaviour and engagement
• Helping to create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment
• Working closely with teachers, the SENCO and wider support team
• Adapting your approach to meet the individual needs of each pupil
• Supporting with personal care where required, with training provided

What we're looking for:

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or within an SEND setting is ideal not a requiremnt
• Experience supporting pupils with additional needs, including ASD, ADHD and other SEND needs, could be personal or within a professional setting
• Strong communication skills with plenty of patience and resilience
• The ability to build positive and consistent relationships with pupils
• A proactive, flexible and adaptable approach
• Willingness to support with personal care if required
• A strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
