SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: Chesterfield, Derbyshire

Hours: Monday–Thursday, full school day Friday finish at 2:30pm

Are you a caring, patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with SEND and/or SEMH needs?

We are currently recruiting for a SEND/SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic specialist school in Chesterfield, supporting pupils with a range of complex additional needs.

As a SEND/SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils and staff to provide consistent, nurturing and engaging support throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting pupils with a range of SEND and SEMH needs
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support where required
• Helping pupils to engage positively with their learning
• Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour
• Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils
• Encouraging pupils' confidence, independence and social development
• Working closely with teachers and other members of the school's support team
• Creating a calm, safe and positive learning environment
• Supporting pupils both inside and outside of the classroom

Previous experience within a SEND, SEMH, specialist school or similar setting would be highly desirable.
