We are seeking a dedicated Receptionist and Administrator for a temporary to permanent opportunity to manage the day-to-day operations of our school reception and provide exceptional front-of-house service. This is for a primary School in East London. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for staff, students, parents/carers, and visitors, ensuring a professional and welcoming environment. This role requires someone who can handle challenging situations and is committed to the school’s ethos and safeguarding procedures.
School Receptionist and Administrator – with SIMS
Hourly Rate: £14.00ph
Location: East London
Job Type: Full-time, Term-time only plus 10 days
Working Hours: 35 hours per week; 8am-4pm Monday to Friday (with one hour break)
Day-to-day of the role:
Manage the main school reception and handle enquiries efficiently.
Greet visitors appropriately and follow safeguarding procedures.
Operate the school telephone system and manage the reception email inbox.
Support attendance monitoring processes and communicate with parents regarding student absence.
Provide administrative support, including filing, word processing, and managing electronic communications.
Handle reprographics, order materials, and organise distribution.
Register late-arriving students and provide translation services for parents/carers as needed.
Maintain student records and provide administrative support to the Senior Leadership Team.
Manage incoming and outgoing mail and act as a fire warden and first aid team member after appropriate training.
Support onsite events, manage the taxi account, and minibus log.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Successful previous experience in a similar role or with an appropriate background.
Relevant QCF (NVQ) Level 2 or equivalent and evidence of professional development.
Ability to relate well to young people and adults and work constructively as part of a diverse team.
Good literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.
Demonstrable commitment to equal opportunities.

Knowledge of relevant safeguarding policies and procedures is desirable.
First aid training or willingness to undertake it is desirable.
