Embedded Systems Electronics Design EngineerOxford (Hybrid 3 days onsite, 2 remote)£Competitive + BenefitsAbout the RoleAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an Embedded Systems Hardware Engineer to join an innovative engineering team developing next-generation microturbine engine technology for advanced jet propulsion applications.The team is leveraging additive manufacturing and cutting-edge materials to push beyond current performance limits, creating highly optimised engine designs and bespoke control systems for a range of customer platforms.This role focuses on the design, development, and testing of production-ready embedded controller hardware. Youll work closely with controls, mechanical, and systems engineers to refine existing development systems into reliable, scalable solutions suitable for demanding real-world applications.Youll be part of a fast-paced and collaborative engineering environment with significant scope to influence both product development and technical direction.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop embedded hardware for production engine controllers, including component selection, schematic capture, and PCB layoutRapidly implement hardware solutions for new engine ancillaries and subsystemsDevelop adaptable controller hardware platforms suitable for engines across multiple thrust classesSupport testing and validation activities to ensure reliability and robustness in challenging operating environmentsCollaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to solve complex technical challengesContribute to agile product development within a fast-moving engineering environmentEssential Skills & ExperienceStrong background in embedded systems hardware designDegree in a relevant engineering discipline (2:1 or above) or equivalent industry experienceExcellent understanding of PCB design principles and best practices, from schematics through to layoutExposure to both hardware and firmware development projectsStrong communication and collaboration skillsOrganised, self-motivated, and capable of independently managing projectsA proactive problem solver with a desire to learn and innovateDesirable ExperienceExperience with any of the following would be advantageous:STM32-based platformsPCB design for highly stressed or harsh environmentsElectric motor controller designCAN bus implementationsEMI/EMC-conscious design techniquesC or C++ programmingBasic understanding of turbomachinery and engine control systemsExperience working within fast-paced, outcome-focused engineering teamsWhats on OfferCompetitive salary and benefits packageHybrid working arrangementOpportunity to work on cutting-edge propulsion and control technologiesCollaborative, highly technical engineering environmentCareer growth within an ambitious and innovative teamJBRP1_UKTJ
