Learning Support Assistant - Chesham, Buckinghamshire
Secondary Learning Support | KS3/KS4 | Classroom & Individual Pupil Support

Learning Support Assistant opportunity within a Secondary Academy, supporting KS3 and KS4 pupils with classroom learning, engagement and academic progress.

A Learning Support Assistant is required for a Secondary Academy in Chesham, Buckinghamshire, supporting pupils across KS3 and KS4. The role would suit an experienced teaching assistant, graduate or education professional who enjoys working directly with secondary-aged pupils.

Your role in the school

Rather than leading lessons, you will work alongside teaching staff to help pupils access the curriculum and remain engaged with their learning.

Depending on the needs of individual classes, your responsibilities may include:

Supporting pupils during whole-class teaching
Working with individuals or small groups
Helping pupils understand and complete classroom tasks
Providing additional explanation where required
Supporting pupils with organisation and independence
Encouraging positive learning behaviours
Working with teachers to identify barriers to learning
Providing feedback to teaching staff on pupil engagement and progress

Requirements:

The successful applicant should demonstrate:

Experience working with children or young people
An understanding of secondary education
Good communication skills
Patience and consistency
The ability to establish professional relationships with pupils
Confidence working alongside qualified teachers
A reliable and professional approach
Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one
