Software Engineer - Java/Python

Software Engineer We're working with a leading global technology consultancy that is expanding its engineering practice and looking for talented Backend Software Engineers to join its growing team.

This is an opportunity to work on complex, cloud-native applications and enterprise-scale digital transformation programmes across a range of industries. You'll collaborate with experienced engineers, solve challenging technical problems, and build secure, scalable software solutions using modern engineering practices.

The Role You'll be responsible for designing, developing and delivering high-quality backend services and applications using modern software engineering principles.

Working within agile engineering teams, you'll contribute to solution design, architecture, automation and continuous improvement while helping deliver reliable, scalable systems for enterprise clients.

Key Responsibilities Design, develop and maintain scalable backend applications and services

Build secure, high-performing solutions using modern engineering practices

Develop APIs, integrations and distributed systems

Contribute to technical design, architecture and engineering best practices

Implement automated testing strategies, including unit, integration and contract testing

Deploy and support applications using cloud platforms, containers and CI/CD pipelines

Monitor, troubleshoot and improve application performance and reliability

Collaborate with engineers, architects and stakeholders to deliver high-quality technical solutions

Skills & Experience They're looking for experience with several of the following:

Backend development:

Strong commercial experience with Java and/or Python

Experience building enterprise applications, APIs and backend services

Strong understanding of software engineering principles, object-oriented design and system architecture

Experience working with databases, data persistence and integration patterns

Cloud & engineering practices:

Experience delivering applications on cloud platforms (AWS preferred, Azure or GCP also considered)

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
