We have an exciting opportunity for a Site Engineer to join our North West Team, based from our Chorley office and working on sites, there has never been a better time to join!
The Role
As a Site Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical delivery, quality assurance, and day-to-day coordination of civil engineering works on site. You will ensure construction activities are carried out in accordance with design specifications, quality standards, and health and safety regulations. Working closely with project managers, subcontractors, clients, and other stakeholders, you will play a key role in maintaining high standards of workmanship, driving project performance, and ensuring successful project delivery through effective planning, quality management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities
Setting out and surveying site works in line with engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
Leading site quality management activities, including inspection and test plans (ITPs), quality audits, non-conformance reporting, corrective actions, and documentation control to ensure all works meet contractual specifications, industry standards, and client expectations.
Supervising construction activities and subcontractors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required standards.
Monitoring progress against project programmes and reporting on site performance, risks, and key milestones.
Raise Technical Queries (TQs) and report Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), ensuring technical issues, quality concerns, and deviations from specification are appropriately documented, investigated, and resolved.
Reviewing technical drawings, specifications, and method statements, and resolving engineering issues on site.
Maintaining accurate site records, including daily reports, inspection records, as-built information, and quality documentation.
What were looking for
Qualified or working towards degree level, HNC/HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering.
Working towards professionally qualified engineer status in a relevant discipline (desirable)
Understanding of site working environments and protocols
Construction / Rail Engineering experience
PTS certified (desirable)
SMSTS or SSSTS (desirable)
Experience of current setting out procedures and equipment (Leica Total station / Dual Grade lasers)
Experience of working with and driving a high level of engineering principles
Knowledge of Network Rail Standards and Governance
Good working knowledge of H&S regulations and legislation
Experience of working within highly regulatory environments
Ability to work on your own but thrives within the team
Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Willingness to undergo further training to advance knowledge
