Business Development Manager

Central Region | Field Based | £30,000 Basic (Neg) + Uncapped Commission

Our client is a highly successful, family-owned business and one of the UK's leading providers of materials handling equipment and associated solutions. With a long-standing reputation for exceptional customer service and employee development, they continue to grow and invest in their people.

Due to ongoing expansion, they are seeking an ambitious and driven Business Development Manager/ Sales Manager to join their team and play a key role in generating new business opportunities across the Central region.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated sales professional who enjoys being out in the field, meeting customers face-to-face and developing long-term business relationships.

The Role

Working closely with the wider sales team, you will be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking and customer engagement.

You will build and manage a healthy sales pipeline, identify customer requirements, prepare quotations and progress sales opportunities. Larger projects will be qualified and handed over to Area Sales Managers for completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across the Central region.
  • Conduct customer visits, networking activities and proactive prospecting campaigns.
  • Build strong relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Understand customer operations and identify opportunities across hire, sales, service and parts.
  • Produce timely, accurate and commercially competitive quotations.
  • Qualify larger opportunities and hand them over to the appropriate sales teams.
  • Gather market intelligence and identify emerging opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and manage a healthy sales pipeline.
  • Follow up leads and enquiries to maximise conversion rates.
  • Represent the business professionally and promote its full range of solutions.

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual who is passionate about building relationships and winning new business.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience in sales, business development, account management or another customer-facing role.
  • Confidence engaging with prospective customers and generating new opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A resilient and results-driven approach.
  • Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving ability.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
  • A self-motivated attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday
  • 40 hours per week
  • Flexible working hours between 7:00am and 6:00pm
