Astute's Power Team are recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support a fleet of Biomass and Energy from Waste Power Stations across the United Kingdom.
Working within the centralised Engineering Team, you'll be responsible for delivering mechanical engineering expertise across the full lifecycle of the portfolio, this includes concept development and proposals, to detailed design, execution, commissioning and service modifications. You will act as the senior mechanical authority on assigned projects supporting the plant performance, reliability and long term maintainability.

Responsibilities and duties:
As the Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Develop and continuously improve mechanical maintenance systems, processes, and practices across the UK fleet.
Provide mechanical engineering expertise and support for plant modifications, maintenance activities, and other critical operational interventions.
Drive improvements in plant reliability, maintainability, and overall operational performance.
Lead and participate in root cause analyses and other technical investigations, providing expert engineering input where required.
Conduct technical surveys, inspections, condition assessments, and investigations to identify opportunities for improved reliability and maintenance performance.
Ensure plans and activities align with agreed standards and guidelines wherever practicable, proactively identifying and removing any obstacles to their implementation.
Prepare technical specifications, coordinate engineering activities with contractors and suppliers, and support the delivery and implementation of engineering solutions.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
Ideally a degree in a related Engineering field such as Mechanical Engineering
Holder of NEBOSH or at least IOSH in Health & Safety (or similar).
Member of a recognised Engineering institution such as Chartered (or working towards)
Personal skills
The Senior Mechanical Engineer role would suit someone with
Extensive knowledge of legislation relating to mechanical assets including LOLER, PUWER & PSSR as well as Safe Systems of Work, Safety Rules & Permit to Work Systems.
