Responsible to: Head of Student Success (HOSS)
Liaison with: Registry Department, university partners, school administrators, college academic staff, ESL student support services, external agencies, external examiners
Job Purpose:
To lead and manage the Assessment Department under the direction of the Head of Student Success, providing accurate, effective and responsive services to academic colleagues and service teams
The post holder will also contribute to the wider Academic Registry where necessary.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties and responsibilities are intended to give a broad indication of the variety of tasks that an Assessment Manager in ESL may be asked to undertake:

when this is necessary.
To lead and manage the activities of the Assessment Department administrators on a day-to-day basis
To support, train, develop and annually appraise the team members for which the post holder is responsible
To liaise with the HOSS on administrative staff disciplinary matters, monitoring of sickness and other absences, monitoring of timekeeping and arrangements for annual leave
To manage the accurate recording of student results and awards on the student database and the production of accurate reports to assessment boards
To plan and organise the schedule of assessment boards and manage the provision of a high standard of board servicing and support
To ensure the accurate issue of award certificates to students from collaborative partners and the provision of replacement certificates and award verifications in accordance with university partners’ policies and procedures
To prepare and analyse statistical and other data related to assessments
To work with the Academic Partnership Office to enhance the assessment support to collaborative university partners
To support the examination delivery and service where required
To provide a professional and proactive service to external examiners, academic staff and other stakeholders
To provide accurate information and advice on university partners’ policies, regulations and processes relating to assessment or re-assessment
To contribute to the development and enhancement of policy and procedure
To work across sites as required and on occasion to work in the evening, at weekends and possibly across-campuses
To provide effective training to academic and services staff on Assessment Department processes
To undertake other administrative work as may be required from time to time, such that it is commensurate with the grade of the post
