Frontend / Backend Developer (Rust, Typescript)

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain performant and reliable systems.

Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code in Rust and TypeScript.

Collaborate with others to define and deliver new features.

Optimise existing backend systems for maximum speed and scalability.

Diagnose, troubleshoot, and address technical issues.

Uphold best practices in engineering, security, and design.

Advocate and implement best practices in testing methodologies, including Test-Driven Development (TDD).

Design and develop automated tests to ensure the reliability and robustness of our systems.

Collaborate with the team to maintain a high standard of quality through continuous testing and code reviews.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

5+ years of development experience with strongly-typed languages, with an emphasis on Rust, Go, and TypeScript.

Strong understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms.

Experience with database design and performance tuning / query optimisation.

Familiar with testing frameworks, ideally relevant to Rust, Go, and TypeScript.

Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.

Preferred Skills

Experience with containerisation technologies like Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes.

Experience with: Vue JS framework, Quasar JS library, Capacitor JS, Axum (Rust), PostgreSQL, Fiber (Go).

Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure).

Experienced in writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, and proficient with TDD practices.

Prior experience within a manufacturing environment.

Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) practices.
