We learn from our mistakes, build on our strengths, and are honest about our weaknesses.About The OpportunityWe're looking forPHP developers of medium and senior expierenceto join our technical teamonsite in Bristol, with salary dependent on experience.As a developer at Shiptheory, you'll work across our technology stack, including our core PHP/Linux/Apache application, MySQL databases, mission-critical Python messaging systems, and cloud infrastructure.Your work will range from fixing bugs and building new features to designing scalable systems, improving infrastructure and deployment pipelines, and working with the wider team to continuously improve the Shiptheory platform.Depending on your experience, you may also review code, mentor other developers, contribute to technical decision-making, and help shape our engineering practices and architecture.What You'll NeedYou will need to be passionate about building PHP based web applications with a focus on APIs with a minimum of 3 years developing commercial-grade PHP and will have worked on large, high volume transactional systems.You will also need to be able to adapt quickly, and open to learning new languages.Experience with CakePHP (or another MVC based framework).Knowledge of SOAP, GraphQL, RESTful APIs.An understanding of relational database design, normalization and indexing.An understanding of e-commerce or experience working within e-commerce or shipping would be a valuable asset but is not essential.While you don't need to be a world-class Dev-Ops, an intermediate understanding of cloud computing techniques and best-practises is required.Enthusiasm for developer efficiency and smooth CI/CD pipelines is a given as a senior; the right solution wins over ego everytime.We're a small, solution-focused bootstrapped team where everyone gets stuck in, takes ownership and helps wherever they can.How to ApplyIn your application email, please include:A link to something you've built or are proud of.
