Job Description

Oracle Database Engineer

Christchurch Based

£74.68 an hour Umbrella Inside IR35

12 Month Contract initially.

This is a great opportunity to work within one of the Uks leading Defence Organisations based in Christchurch.

Current SC/DV Cleared is needed for the position.

The candidate should have an existing, proven knowledge of the following:

The systems development lifecycle, from design through to test

The development processes (e.g. requirements, design, specification, implementation, acceptance testing), and development tools

Essential / Desirable skills The candidate should also be able to demonstrate:

A team working culture

Innovation and problem-solving skills, with a holistic view to implementation

Interpersonal and communication skills. In particular, the candidate will show the confidence to liaise with customer and user representatives to discuss systems technical issues.

Awareness of Risk ManagementAdditional Information

The development processes (e.g. requirements, design, specification, implementation, acceptance testing), and development tools

The design and implementation of database tables

Implementation of database packages using the Structured Query Language (SQL)

Database design and modelling

Performance monitoring and enhancement of an Oracle database

Database administration

Monitoring the Oracle website for updates and engaging with Oracle to request patches

Horizon scanning for vulnerabilities

Configuring Windows/Linux/RHEL operating systems

Creating bespoke applications and automated deployment using PowerShell

Knowledge:

Innovation and problem-solving skills, with a holistic view to implementation
