C++ Developer | Electronic Trading | Hedge FundLondon | Competitive base salary plus performance-related bonusC++ | Linux | Multithreading | TCP/UDP | Distributed Systems | Performance EngineeringThe Role:This is a hands-on engineering role working on the systems behind a global electronic trading platform. The focus is deep C++ and Linux work, improving the speed, predictability and resilience of software that processes live market activity across multiple regions. You will have space to investigate problems properly, understand behaviour at operating-system and network level, and take changes from technical design through to production. It is a strong fit for someone who enjoys performance engineering rather than conventional application development. What You Will Be Doing:Build and improve latency-sensitive C++ services used within an electronic trading environment.Tune systems for consistent performance, high throughput and dependable production behaviour.Profile code and diagnose difficult issues using packet analysis, crash data and runtime performance tooling.Work at the intersection of software, Linux and networking, making sensible trade-offs across different network conditions.Design concurrent and distributed components that can support Real Time workflows at scale.Own engineering problems through design, implementation, testing, release and live investigation. What You Bring:Strong commercial C++ development skills, including modern language features, concurrency and multithreaded programming.Solid Linux systems knowledge and an understanding of how software behaves below the application layer.Practical experience with TCP, UDP and multicast in performance-sensitive environments.Evidence of building or supporting high-throughput distributed software in production.Confidence using profiling, debugging and network-analysis tools to find measurable causes of poor performance.A methodical approach to optimisation, with the judgement to balance latency, reliability and maintainability.Exposure to scalable I/O, lock-free techniques, Scripting, delivery pipelines or observability would be useful.Electronic trading experience is helpful, but strong performance-engineering experience from another demanding environment may also translate well. The Package:Competitive base salary plus performance-related bonus.
