DevOps Engineer - SC Cleared

Contract: 6 Months

Rate:  £350 - 500 per day

Location:  Remote

Clearance: Active SC Clearance required (or eligible to hold SC with current clearance process already completed)

We are supporting a major public sector digital transformation programme and are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team delivering secure, scalable and cloud-native solutions.

This role will focus on the design, automation and optimisation of AWS-based infrastructure and delivery platforms, working closely with software engineers, architects, testers and delivery teams to enable reliable, secure and efficient software release processes.

Key Responsibilities

Build, maintain and optimise AWS cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code principles.

Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines, with a strong focus on GitLab CI.

Automate deployment, configuration and operational processes to improve efficiency and reliability.

Support containerised workloads and cloud-native deployment patterns.

Implement monitoring, logging and observability solutions to improve platform visibility and operational performance.

Drive infrastructure resilience, scalability, security and cost optimisation initiatives.

Support incident response, troubleshooting and root cause analysis activities.

Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure successful delivery of platform and application services.

Promote DevOps best practices and continuous improvement across engineering teams.

Required Experience

Strong hands-on AWS experience, including services such as ECS, CloudWatch, SNS, SQS and related platform components.

Proven Terraform and Infrastructure as Code expertise.

Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, ideally using GitLab CI.

Strong Docker and containerisation experience.

Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana and CloudWatch.

Knowledge of AWS security best practices, IAM and Well-Architected principles.

Experience implementing automation and reducing manual operational overhead.
