Technical Support & Product Development Chemist
Location: Warrington
Salary: £30,000 Benefits
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and ambitious Technical Support & Product Development Chemist to join a growing manufacturing business based in Warrington.
This is a varied and hands-on role offering the opportunity to work across product development, technical support, quality improvement, and customer-facing activities. You will play a key role in developing and improving products, investigating technical challenges, supporting customers, and collaborating with internal departments to drive continuous improvement.
This position would suit a chemistry graduate with industry experience, or an experienced laboratory professional looking to take the next step within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development, reformulation, and testing of products from concept through to commercialisation.
  • Provide technical support to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Investigate product performance issues and customer complaints, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Conduct laboratory testing, analysis, and product evaluations.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, specifications, and reports.
  • Work closely with production, sales, quality, and operations teams to ensure product performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives across products and processes.
  • Support compliance with relevant industry regulations and quality standards.
  • Participate in trials, validation activities, and new product projects.

About You

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing, chemical, laboratory, or product development environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to investigate issues methodically and identify practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach to work.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A willingness to take ownership, show initiative, and contribute beyond their core responsibilities.

Desirable Experience

  • Product formulation or product development experience.
  • Technical customer support experience.
  • Quality control, quality assurance, or laboratory testing experience.
  • Experience working within an SME manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
