Senior Mechanical Engineer Water & Wastewater Sector

Warrington, Chorley or Brighouse | Hybrid Working Competitive Salary + Car Allowance + Excellent Benefits

A leading UK engineering and infrastructure consultancy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its growing design team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of water and wastewater projects , delivering innovative mechanical design solutions from concept through to construction.

Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you'll play a key role in the delivery of infrastructure and non-infrastructure schemes across the UK water sector. Projects include pumping stations, treatment works, screening systems, chemical dosing installations and sludge handling facilities.

Key Responsibilities Lead and deliver mechanical designs across feasibility, outline and detailed design stages.

Produce and review engineering calculations, drawings, technical reports and specifications.

Develop cost-effective, high-quality engineering solutions aligned with client requirements.

Coordinate with clients, stakeholders and site teams throughout project delivery.

Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians.

Assist with project planning, resource allocation and budget management.

Support bid activities, site inspections and occasional construction-stage activities.

Requirements Experience delivering mechanical design solutions within the water or wastewater industry .

Knowledge of pumping stations, treatment processes and associated mechanical equipment.

AutoCAD 2D proficiency.

Experience using pump selection and pump calculation software.

Ability to undertake site surveys and develop practical engineering solutions.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Full UK driving licence.
