KVector Ltd.

City Of London / Global

Principal Electronics Engineer

  • £70000

Job Description

What you'll do

Our beam-steering antennas need electronics that move, sense and control with precision, and we need someone to own them. You'll take our control electronics from requirements through design, bring-up and verification to product release. That covers the hardware, actuator drive, sensing and power that make our technology work. It's a senior individual contributor role: you'll be the technical lead for electronics, hands-on at the bench, and working closely with antenna, mechanical, software and systems engineering.

  • Design analogue, digital and mixed-signal hardware for our antenna products
  • Build architectures for antenna control, sensing and calibration
  • Develop drive electronics for piezoelectric and stepper-motor positioning systems
  • Design signal conditioning, power regulation and interfaces
  • Own complex multilayer PCBs from schematic to production, working with layout, fab and assembly partners
  • Bring up, debug and characterise boards in the lab, then feed what you learn back into the design
  • Support EMC, environmental and qualification testing
  • Mentor junior engineers as the team grows, and help shape how we do electronics here

What you'll bring

  • Around 5-10 years developing electronic hardware products
  • A track record of taking hardware from concept through PCB design, prototype, integration and verification
  • Solid analogue, digital and mixed-signal design experience
  • Embedded hardware experience with microcontrollers and FPGAs, including hands-on FPGA design and implementation
  • Complex multilayer PCB design: controlled impedance, grounding, signal and power integrity
  • Power supply and distribution design for embedded systems
  • Confident bring-up, debugging and lab work with scopes, logic analysers and spectrum analysers
  • Fluency in Altium, OrCAD, Cadence or similar
  • A good grasp of EMC, DFM and DFT
  • A degree in electronic or electrical engineering or a related discipline
  • You're comfortable owning decisions when things are still taking shape

Bonus points if...

  • You've worked on electromechanical, actuator or precision positioning systems
  • You've designed piezo drive or stepper-motor control electronics
  • You've built precision sensing for position, displacement or temperature, including ADC/DAC interfaces
  • You write VHDL or Verilog
  • You've done high-speed digital and SI analysis
  • You've worked on RF or microwave product electronics
  • You've worked on radar, satcom or antenna control systems
  • You've delivered low-SWaP embedded systems
  • You've worked on defence, aerospace or high-reliability products
  • You've managed external PCB or manufacturing partners
  • You've worked in a start-up or fast-paced product team
