Job Description

Quantity Surveyor
The successful candidate will have at least 5 years experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering, rail, infrastructure or utilities sectors.
Some hybrid working is available, with three days per week working out of our clients Northwest office and two from home.
Due to continued and sustained growth, the company is now looking to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor to assist in their further ambitious expansion plans.

The Role
Work closely with the management, internal teams and operations staff to ensure that the companys commercial position is maintained and protected at all times
Work under deadline pressures in an efficient, composed and calm manner
Work with suppliers and sub-contractors with the aim to improve performance and profit if possible
Oversee and manage project commercial activities
Risk and opportunity identification and management
Review existing commercial processes to identify and implement best practice if required
Ensure contracts have been drawn up prior to commencement of works, and are reviewed and approved
Vetting of terms, contract evaluations, and sub-contract procurement and selection
Provide commercial and contractual advice to operations and internal teams
Notification, preparation and agreement of any change, claims or extensions of time
Attend client meetings as required, including project commencement and close outs
Undertake commercial audits for each contract to ensure good practice and compliance with company procedures and client or contract specifications
Provide project accounts, including the measurement and agreement of interim assessments, early warning notifications, WIP, compensation events and change etc.
Financial reconciliation and managing other associated contractual administration
Attend and contribute to risk, cost and value, progress and update meetings
Preparation of weekly and monthly CVR reports, including KPI information, estimates of defined costs to complete, and any pain or gain position
Preparing and agreeing final accounts
Preparation and administration of sub-contract accounts and required documents
The Person
Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor in a relevant field (civil engineering, utilities, rail, infrastructure etc)
Working knowledge of NEC3 Form of Contract
Knowledge of the general construction sequence for an array of project types
Ability to apply the principles of quantity surveying and commercial governance
Experience of sub-contracting principles
Ability to implement procedures to quantify the cost of construction works, including the use of appropriate methods of measurement
Supporting the project team with commercial advice or contract requirements
Effective negotiation skills with both internal and external clients and teams
