Job Description

Payroll Administrator – Large Independent Accountancy Practice, Brighton

Location: Brighton City Centre

Hours: Full time (37.5 hours). Flexible patterns considered — minimum 30 hours / 4 days per week.

The Opportunity

You’ll join a busy payroll function delivering accurate, timely payroll services for a wide variety of clients. This is a great role for someone who enjoys problem solving, client interaction and working with autonomy once trained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process payroll in a timely and accurate manner from start to finish
  • Create and maintain payroll records
  • Calculate part months & holiday
  • Manage statutory payments
  • Process P45’s
  • Liaise with clients, clarifying calculations as necessary.
  • Managing client pension schemes via multiple pension providers i.e. setting up and monthly uploading.
  • Practice software packages used – Sage, STAR & Xero

Skills & Experience

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Previous payroll experience in accountancy practice
  • Highly numerate with strong attention to detail
  • Experienced in data entry and record keeping
  • Competent with Excel and confident with IT systems
  • Able to work methodically, multitask and stay calm under pressure
  • Comfortable communicating with clients and colleagues
  • Capable of working independently after initial training
  • Reliable, trustworthy and organised
  • Legally authorised to work in the UK
