Prudhoe / Global

Senior Software Engineer (C++/Linux)

Job Description

Company

We're looking for an experienced software engineer to join a growing technology company developing software for specialist products used in highly demanding environments.

This is an application development role, focused on building robust C++ applications that run on Linux-based embedded platforms. It's not a firmware or electronics position, so we're looking for someone who enjoys developing software close to the hardware, without spending their days writing device drivers or low-level firmware.

Role

Developing and enhancing applications written in C++

Building software for Linux-based embedded and edge devices

Working on performance-critical systems where efficiency and reliability matter

Contributing to software architecture and technical decision-making

Collaborating with a small team of experienced engineers to deliver high-quality products

Person

We're keen to speak with engineers who have experience in:

Modern C++ development

Linux application development

Embedded Linux environments

Software performance optimisation and memory management

TCP/IP networking and communications protocols

Developing software that interacts with hardware or runs on embedded devices

You'll be someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and takes pride in writing clean, well-engineered code.

Security Clearance Requirements

Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).

To be considered, you'll typically need:

A minimum of 5 years' residency in the UK

A clear and consistent employment and address history during that period

To hold one of the following:

A British passport, or

Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), or

A valid UK residency status that supports SC clearance eligibility

If you've built your career around C++ and Linux application development, and you're looking for a role where your software runs on real-world devices rather than in the cloud, I'd love to hear from you.
