Scope You will work within multidisciplinary engineering teams developing software solutions for advanced defence and mission-critical systems. The role offers the opportunity to contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design through implementation, integration, verification, and support. You will work on technically challenging programmes involving high-performance systems where reliability, security, and quality are essential

Role

As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, integration, and verification of software solutions within a structured engineering environment. Working closely with software, systems, hardware, and test engineers, you will help deliver robust and maintainable software that meets customer and programme requirements.

Responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain software solutions using C++ and CSupport software development within Linux and embedded computing environmentsAnalyse software and system requirements, ensuring full traceability throughout the development lifecycleProduce high-quality, maintainable and reusable code in accordance with coding standards and best practicesDevelop and execute unit, integration and system test activitiesSupport software integration activities and troubleshooting within laboratory and target environmentsContribute to software design reviews, peer reviews and technical discussionsWork collaboratively with systems, hardware, integration and test teamsSupport configuration management and version control activities using industry-standard toolsProduce clear technical documentation and engineering artefactsParticipate in Agile development activities including sprint planning, estimation and retrospectives

Required Experience

Experience developing software using C++ and/or CExperience working within the software development lifecycleExperience of software integration, testing and debuggingExperience developing software within Linux or embedded environmentsUnderstanding of object-oriented design principlesExperience using version control systems such as Git

Required Skills

Strong software engineering and problem-solving skillsProficiency in C++ and knowledge of CUnderstanding of software architecture and design principlesKnowledge of software testing methodologies and automated testing approachesUnderstanding of requirements-driven developmentAbility to communicate effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teamsStrong debugging and fault-finding capability Desirable Skills
