Job Description

Document Controller

An opportunity for an experienced Document Controller to join a busy civil engineering contractor, supporting the successful delivery of projects from start to finish.

Working closely with site teams, subcontractors, consultants and other stakeholders, you’ll play a key role in ensuring project information is accurately controlled, maintained and distributed throughout the project lifecycle.

This is a varied role with involvement across document control, QA support and the management of handover and O&M documentation.

The Role

As Document Controller, you’ll be responsible for maintaining effective document management processes across one or more civil engineering projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

Managing project documentation within the Common Data Environment (CDE).

Ensuring documents are correctly filed, named, issued and accessible in line with project procedures.

Maintaining document registers and controlling revisions, approvals and distribution.

Monitoring document submissions and following up outstanding information.

Liaising with site teams, subcontractors, consultants and other stakeholders to ensure document control procedures are followed.

Carrying out regular document audits alongside the Senior Document Controller.

Supporting site teams with the preparation and submission of QA documentation.

Collating and tracking QA inspection records, reports and associated documentation.

Ensuring project records are maintained accurately and in accordance with project and industry requirements.

Collecting, reviewing and compiling O&M manuals and handover information from subcontractors and suppliers.

Tracking outstanding O&M information and following up with the relevant parties.

Supporting the successful completion and handover of projects to the client.

About You

You’ll ideally have previous experience working in Document Control, preferably within civil engineering, construction or another project-based environment.

You may have experience with:

Document management systems or Common Data Environments, such as Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or similar platforms.

Managing document revisions, approvals, registers and distribution.

Working with site teams, subcontractors, consultants and wider project stakeholders.

Supporting QA, handover or O&M documentation processes.

Managing multiple priorities while working to deadlines.
