Set within 300 acres of Hertfordshire parkland, Moor Park Golf Club is one of the region’s most established private members’ clubs, with a history spanning more than a century and a strong, diverse membership. The Club also has a well‑established racquets section, with thirteen tennis courts and an active playing membership. The addition of padel courts, currently anticipated for Summer 2026, represents a natural step in the Club’s ongoing development and reflects its commitment to continually evolving and enhancing its sporting offering.

The 17th‑century Mansion clubhouse provides a distinctive setting for dining, events, and everyday use, and remains central to the life of the Club. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the day-to‑day finance function, supported by the Accounts Assistant, ensuring accurate, efficient and well‑controlled financial processes across the Club.
• Prepare timely and accurate monthly management accounts, providing clear commentary and financial insight to the General Manager, Finance Director and Finance Committee.
• Lead the Club’s budgeting, cashflow forecasting and P&L forecasting processes, identifying trends, risks and opportunities and supporting effective forward planning.
• Act as a commercially minded business partner to the General Manager and wider leadership team, using financial information to challenge, advise and support operational and commercial decision‑making.
• Maintain strong financial controls and ensure the Club meets its accounting, tax, VAT, statutory and wider financial compliance obligations.
• Review the Club’s finance systems and processes, providing recommendations to improve efficiency, digitalisation and financial reporting.
• Review the Club’s payroll arrangements and provide advice on the most appropriate and efficient approach moving forward.
• Prepare financial reports and supporting commentary for the monthly Finance Committee and Board, attending meetings where appropriate and communicating financial information clearly to both financial and non‑financial stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively across the Club, developing strong relationships with department heads and maintaining a visible presence within the operation to improve financial understanding, accountability and performance.
• Work closely with the General Manager and Finance Director with a high degree of autonomy, continually identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes, reporting and commercial performance across the Club.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong technical accounting knowledge and a sound understanding of financial reporting, controls and regulatory requirements.
• Proven experience operating in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, Management Accountant or similar senior finance position, with responsibility for the effective delivery of a finance function.
• Strong commercial and operational understanding, ideally gained within a business with multiple revenue streams such as hospitality, leisure, golf, private clubs or a similarly service‑led environment.
• Demonstrable experience of management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management and providing meaningful financial analysis to support business decision‑making.
• Strong relationship‑building and stakeholder management skills, with the credibility and diplomacy to work effectively with senior leadership, department heads, committees, Board members and other key stakeholders.
• A commercially minded and collaborative approach, with the ability to understand the wider operation and translate financial information into practical advice and recommendations for non‑finance colleagues.
• Experience of reviewing and improving financial systems, processes and controls, with an understanding of how technology and digitalisation can improve efficiency, reporting and financial management.
• Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy while remaining hands‑on when required, taking ownership of the finance function and proactively identifying areas for improvement.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience preparing clear management information and confidently presenting financial performance, trends and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Experience within golf, private clubs, hospitality, leisure or a member‑based environment would be advantageous, as would an understanding of the culture and dynamics of a member‑led organisation.

EDUCATIONAL AND CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS

• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA / CIMA / ACA or international equivalent).
• Evidence of CPD and leadership training.
• The selected candidate must have the right to work in the UK.
