Maintenance Superintendent - Cable and Pipe Lay Systems

The main responsibility of the role is to oversee and support the delivery of safe and effective delivery of cable and pipelay system projects. Provide technical support, supervision and mentoring to both the onshore support team and site-based technicians in relation to all operation and maintenance activities. Responsible for supporting operations and maintenance of cable and pipelay systems to the highest of standards with a real focus on continuous improvement.

Main responsibilities:

Provide technical, operational and business support for Cable and Pipe Lay Systems (CPLS), improving the following areas:

·        Setting standards and expectations on how projects are planned and supported by project controls and engineering teams and delivered by site based technicians.

·        Setting standards and expectations for site based technicians to follow from introduction at pre-mob briefs to validation of operation and maintenance execution at site..

·        Provide technical guidance and mentoring to the business development team, project controls and engineering teams, workshop and site based technicians in delivering on client and Sparrows expectations of right first time operations and maintenance delivery.

·        Have significant involved in site instructions and fault finding exercises relating to Cable & Pipe Lay equipment.

·        Lead by example by adopting a continuous improvement attitude towards our operations & maintenance execution and delivery - is it right? Implement detailed reviews of process and procedures and amend and optimise as required utilising formal process and engagement with discipline support teams.

·        Complete operations and maintenance audits across the fleet of equipment and sites to witness and confirm standards are being completed as per expectations.

·        Lead After Action Reviews (AAR’s) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) where operations and maintenance has not been delivered right 1st time to ensure lessons learned are captured to mitigate recurrence.

·        Identify training needs of work shop and site based technicians to enhance the overall skill set of these employees in delivering projects.

·        Interface with all internal discipline support teams and the wider Sparrows organisation in delivering a complete and comprehensive Cable and Pipe Lay System service.

·        Interface with internal and external clients to ensure a professional service is always provided in a timely fashion.

Contributing to the development of new systems, procedures and initiatives specifically in Cable and Pipe Lay System projects.

·        Taking part in the team and planning meetings.

·        Contributing to special meetings and working parties.

·        Liaising directly with discipline engineering leads.

·        On a day-to-day basis, identifying necessary process and business improvements and taking steps to implement same.

·        Participating in knowledge sharing of best practices between colleagues.

Taking an active part in promoting an excellent safety culture by:

·        Leading and participating in Safety engagement forums

·        Setting an example at all times of the correct safety behaviours.

·        Letting it be known at every opportunity that safety is a prime concern and people will be given every support for stopping unsafe jobs.

·        Seeking the advice from time to time of the HSEQ Rep. and supporting the roll out of safety initiatives.

·        Following all Sparrows Group safety rules and procedures including reporting of accidents immediately to the Operations Director/HSEQ Rep.

·        Delivery of HSEQ plan actions and initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience:

·        Suitable cable and pipelay systems experience to support the role requirements

· Adequate onshore engineering experience to support the role requirements
