Salary: GBP 45K- 50K / yearShift Pattern: Rotating ShiftsEarly: 05:00 14:00Late: 13:00 22:00Night: 21:00 06:00Role:Job Title: Multi-Skilled Engineer (Manufacturing Sauces)Department: Engineering / Maintenance Reports to: Maintenance ManagerShift Pattern: [Days / Nights / Rotating Shifts] Job PurposeThe Multi-Skilled Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving manufacturing equipment within a high-volume sauce production facility. The role requires strong electrical and mechanical skills to ensure equipment reliability, food safety compliance, and minimal production downtime.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance & Engineering Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production and packaging machinery Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults Maintain and repair equipment including:o Mixing vessels and blenderso Pumps, fillers, cappers, and conveyorso Pasteurisers, cookers, and heat exchangersPackaging and labelling machineryElectrical & Controls Fault-find on electrical systems (single and three-phase) Work with PLCs (fault finding only unless otherwise specified) Maintain sensors, motors, inverters, and control panels Ensure compliance with electrical safety standardsFood Safety & Compliance Work in accordance with BRCGS, HACCP, and GMP standards Ensure all engineering work meets food safety and hygiene requirements Complete accurate maintenance documentation and records Support audits and inspections as requiredContinuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and efficiency Support installation and commissioning of new machinery Assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions Contribute to continuous improvement and cost-saving initiativesHealth & Safety Comply with UK Health & Safety legislation Follow lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures Maintain a clean, safe working environment Report hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly________________________________________Skills & Experience RequiredEssential Recognised engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent) Proven experience as a Multi-Skilled Engineer in a food manufacturing environment Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills Experience with high-speed production and packaging machinery Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards Ability to work independently and as part of a team Willingness to work shifts and attend call-outs if requiredDesirable Experience in sauce, condiment, or liquid food manufacturing PLC fault-finding experience (Siemens / Allen Bradley preferred) 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Experience using CMMS systems Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experiencePersonal Attributes Proactive and solution-focused approach Strong attention to detail Good communication skills Calm under pressure Flexible and adaptable to production demandsJBRP1_UKTJ
