Software Engineer (AI Development)

Location: Belfast – Hybrid (2 days per week in office)

The Opportunity

We’re working with an impressive company in Belfast that can confidently call itself a standout ‘employer of choice’. They’re making a significant investment in AI-enabled software engineering and building a new AI capability that will add value across the business.

They’re looking for Software Engineers who have been immersed in ‘Agentic Engineering’; using AI coding tools as a fundamental tenet of your day-to‑day.

The Software Engineer won’t just write code. You'll explore how AI can improve the entire SDLC, whilst driving AI Adoption internally + ensuring quality output!

Ultimately you will think about what tools to use, help teams adopt best practices and see if other teams can benefit too!

Looking at AI-coding zero to 1. Think research, planning, building, implementing, coaching and working cross‑functionally!

What You’ll Be Doing

1) Software Engineering

2) Problem solving, experimentation and collaboration.

You’ll:

Build and deliver AI-enabled software solutions from concept through to production

Use AI-assisted development tools to improve software engineering and delivery

Explore and implement agentic AI workflows and techniques for reliable automation

Help engineering and product teams adopt AI-enabled development practices

Develop reusable engineering approaches, examples and best practices

Ensure solutions align with architectural patterns, coding standards and performance requirements

Work across engineering, architecture, security, QA and platform teams

Help teams understand both the capabilities and limitations of AI within software development

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent commercial experience

3+ years' commercial experience in Software Engineering (full-stack)

Hands‑on experience with AI‑driven engineering tools, such as:

-Cursor

-Compound Engineering or similar approaches/tools

Experience with agentic AI workflows and steering techniques for reliable automation

Strong OOP skills using Java, Python or C#

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

Knowledge of AWS, Azure or GCP

Strong understanding of software engineering standards, architecture and performance

Must be permanently based in Northern Ireland with the relevant Right to Work

RAG architectures, embeddings and context management

Docker and Kubernetes

Software security best practices and compliance

Automated testing frameworks and QA processes

AWS certification or equivalent cloud certification
