Financial Controller

RG Consultancy are working with a fantastic growing SME in Congleton who are recruiting for a Financial Controller to join them on a permanent basis. This is a number one in finance role to support the business and report directly into the Managing Director

Role Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the day-to-day finance function and provide accurate financial information to senior management
• Prepare monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts and variance analysis
• Monitor business performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability, margins and cost control
• Manage cash-flow forecasting and working capital, including stock, debtors and creditors
• Provide commercial financial analysis to support pricing, investment and wider business decisions
• Assess proposed investments and monitor financial returns against agreed business cases
• Oversee reconciliations, ledgers, payments, VAT and year-end accounting requirements.
• Maintain strong financial controls and ensure reporting is accurate and delivered on time
• Identify and implement improvements to finance processes, systems and reporting
• Support and develop junior members of the finance team
• Work closely with senior management and other departments, providing financial challenge and practical recommendations
• Identify financial risks and opportunities and ensure appropriate action is taken

Person Specification

• CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified with 5+ years proven experience working within a financial management role
• Experienced as a number one in finance within an SME or a strong number two within a larger business
• Strong IT skills including accounting software and MS Excel
• Experience working within a manufacturing, wholesale and distribution business would be preferred but not essential
