Job Description

An established main contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Engineer to join its project team in Oxford.This is an excellent opportunity for an Engineer with strong technical and site delivery experience to take responsibility for the engineering function on significant construction projects. You’ll work closely with the wider project team, subcontractors and supply chain, while overseeing Site Engineers and ensuring works are delivered accurately, safely and to specification.The RoleAs Senior Engineer, you will take responsibility for site engineering across packages including earthworks, piling, groundworks and drainage, structural steel, cladding and general construction.Your responsibilities will include:Managing the site engineering function and overseeing Site EngineersEnsuring accurate setting out and dimensional controlReviewing technical drawings, specifications and contract informationManaging external surveys where requiredSupporting the planning and delivery of temporary worksEnsuring compliance with SHEQ procedures, RAMS and project requirementsProducing and implementing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)Maintaining accurate quality and compliance recordsProviding engineering input into programmes and site logisticsMonitoring progress and reporting against programmeChairing subcontractor progress meetingsProducing weekly and monthly progress reports where requiredIdentifying and communicating programme risks and changesUndertaking PDRs and supporting the training and development of Site EngineersAbout YouTo be considered, you should have:At least 5 years' experience in a similar engineering roleStrong experience in groundworks and steel-framed buildingsDemonstrable setting-out experience on large-scale contractsExperience taking responsibility for engineering delivery on siteSMSTSA valid driving licencePrevious experience on major construction projects and concrete structures, including slipform or jumpform, would be particularly advantageous.First Aid training and experience using Fieldview or 4P Viewpoint would also be beneficial
