Job Description

Are you a reliable and assertive Teaching Assistant who brings strong presence, clear direction, and firm support to the classroom?

We are recruiting a driven and hands-on Teaching Assistant for a specialist provision in Barnsley (S75) starting from September 2026 , ideal for someone who thrives in structured, high-expectation environments.

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide direct classroom support, reinforce routines, and apply a confident, no-nonsense approach to help pupils stay focused and engaged. You'll support learning, reinforce behaviour expectations, and help drive consistency across the school day.

Key Responsibilities as a Teaching Assistant:

Classroom Support: Provide firm, steady support during lessons to keep pupils focused and on task.

Behaviour Reinforcement: Apply consistent boundaries, structure, and expectations.

Learning Assistance: Support pupils with work set by the teacher and reinforce key learning points.

Routine Leadership: Maintain clear daily routines and transitions across the school day.

Progress Monitoring: Track pupil engagement and report directly to teaching staff.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with teachers and support staff to maintain consistent standards.

To succeed as a Teaching Assistant, you will need:

Experience in schools, SEN, sports, alternative provision, or structured youth settings.

A strong presence with calm, controlled, and confident communication.

The ability to manage challenging behaviour with authority and consistency.

Quick decision-making and practical problem-solving under pressure.

An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply through us.
