Job Description

Machine Operator

Location: Barking

Pay: £15.05 per hour

Hours: Monday to Friday, rotating shifts

Week 1: 6:00am - 2:15pm

Week 2: 2:00pm - 10:00pm

Contract: Full-time

Omnia Resourcing is recruiting a Machine Operator to join a busy food manufacturing operation in Barking.

You will be responsible for safely operating and monitoring production machinery, coordinating the production line and ensuring quality, food safety and production targets are achieved.

The Role

Set up, operate, adjust and monitor production machinery.

Complete machine start-up, shutdown and routine checks.

Carry out basic fault finding and minor machine adjustments.

Report equipment faults and liaise with engineering when required.

Lead and coordinate production line staff during shifts.

Allocate tasks and maintain an efficient workflow.

Monitor productivity and ensure production targets are met.

Complete quality checks and production records.

Follow HACCP, GMP, food safety and hygiene procedures.

Monitor waste, downtime and line efficiency.

Maintain high standards of housekeeping and Health & Safety.

Support training of new operators and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

Essential:

Previous experience operating machinery in a food manufacturing environment .

Good understanding of food safety and quality standards.

Basic mechanical aptitude and fault-finding skills.

Strong attention to detail.

Able to work under pressure and meet production targets.

Good numeracy and literacy skills.

Reliable, hardworking and a good team player.

Desirable:

Previous experience leading or supervising a production line.

Food Safety/HACCP qualifications.

Experience working in chilled or temperature-controlled environments.

The role involves standing for extended periods, repetitive tasks and manual handling . PPE must be worn at all times.
