Fire & Security EngineerHuntingdon, Cambridgeshire (UK travel)Full time, permanentSalary – £40,000Our client, BDi Advance Fire & Security Ltd, is growing its engineering team and is looking for an experienced Fire & Security Engineer to join the business.This is a varied field-based role working across commercial client sites, covering installation, commissioning, planned maintenance, reactive callouts and fault finding across a broad range of fire and electronic security systems.The role would suit an engineer who enjoys variety, is confident working independently and takes pride in delivering technically strong work and excellent customer service.Fire & Security Engineer, the role:Install, configure and commission fire and security systems in line with system designs, manufacturer requirements and relevant British StandardsInstall and commission fire detection and alarm, CCTV, access control, intruder alarm and intercom systemsCarry out containment, cabling, termination and equipment installation where requiredProgram and configure control equipment, devices, networks and softwareComplete planned preventative maintenance, inspections and functional testingAttend reactive service calls and diagnose faults across hardware, software, cabling, power supplies and network infrastructureRepair or replace defective equipment where authorisedIdentify recurring faults and establish their root causeComplete commissioning documentation, service reports, certificates and engineer worksheets accuratelyProvide technical information for quotations, remedial works and system upgradesMaintain accurate job records using electronic job management systemsCommunicate professionally with customers and site representatives, explaining faults and recommendations clearlyIdentify opportunities for additional works, upgrades or improvements and report these back to the companyWork safely in accordance with company procedures, RAMS, relevant legislation and industry standardsParticipate in the on-call rota following completion of the required training and competency assessmentThe role covers a broad range of systems including fire detection and alarms, CCTV, access control, intruder alarms and integrated security systems.Fire & Security Engineer, the person:Previous experience within the fire and/or electronic security industryStrong practical engineering and fault-finding skillsExperience servicing and maintaining electronic systemsComfortable working independently across customer sitesGood understanding of fire alarm, CCTV, access control and intruder alarm systemsGood understanding of basic IP networking and system integrationAble to read system drawings, specifications and technical documentationStrong attention to detail and accurate technical reportingProfessional and confident customer communication skillsGood understanding of Health & Safety requirementsFull UK driving licenceFire & Security Engineer, the benefits:25 days' annual leave plus Bank holidaysPrivate HealthcareDental cover£150 on call bonus for 1 in 6 after probationary periodPure Human Resources Limited works in partnership with BDi Advance Fire & Security Ltd in providing recruitment support.
