Job Description

Are you passionate about supporting children who have experienced trauma and helping them feel safe, secure and valued?

We are recruiting Residential Support Workers to join a dedicated team supporting children aged 7–10 across three specialist, trauma-informed residential homes in Fontwell and Littlehampton.

The children supported have experienced challenging and traumatic backgrounds, so this role is about much more than simply providing care. You will play an important part in helping children feel safe, building trust and developing long-term, therapeutic relationships.

About the Role

As a Residential Support Worker, you will become an important and trusted adult in the children's lives. The ideal candidate will be able to take on a parental, nurturing role, providing consistency, boundaries and emotional support.

You will be committed to building long-term, therapeutic relationships and helping the children develop confidence, stability and positive routines.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

* Supporting children with their daily needs and routines

* Preparing and cooking meals

* Creating a calm, safe and nurturing home environment

* Spending quality time with the children

* Taking part in play, activities and hobbies

* Encouraging positive relationships and emotional development

* Providing consistent support in line with each child's individual needs

* Responding calmly and appropriately to challenging behaviours

Shift Pattern

You will be contracted to work 40 hours per week and will be required to complete one sleep-in shift per week.

Typical shifts include:

* 7:30am – 10:30pm or set AM or PM (7.30am - 2.30pm / 2.30pm - 10.30pm)

* Sleep-in shifts

Training & Career Development

* Level 3 Residential Childcare Qualification

About You

Essential Requirements

* Previous experience working with children in residential care, youth work, SEN, family support etc

* Full UK driving licence

* Access to your own vehicle, as the homes are located in rural areas

* Availability to work 40 hours per week, including sleep-ins

* Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (Or willing to obtain one)
