Job Description

Job Description

Our new Operational Data Platform sits at the heart of our technology team, providing real-time data across all our applications and services. This role is a major contributor to building it.

Reporting into the Lead Data Engineer, you’ll work with a high degree of autonomy and have a genuine impact on the direction of the platform, from the design decisions that shape it to the standards and patterns the whole team works to.

Day to day, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Playing a leading role in the design and delivery of the Operational Holidays Data Model, defining approaches where it makes strategic sense to do so

  • Building reusable data assets across all our business domains (customer, booking, flight, transfer and beyond) working closely with developers to make sure they can be used across the full production ecosystem

  • Designing monitoring and maintenance patterns to keep your assets and the wider platform performing reliably with minimal downtime

  • Managing and prioritising data engineering initiatives across multiple product and developer teams, navigating complex dependencies

  • Leading and developing a team of Data Engineers and platform developers, including supplier based resources, and owning personal development plans for internal team members

  • Ensuring governance and compliance across the data estate meets all regulatory requirements

  • Managing platform usage and costs in liaison with the platform team

  • Supporting adhoc analysis and model development as needed

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • Strong experience building and running bespoke OLTP systems, with a focus on high concurrency and reliability

  • Experience across a range of SQL tools (Postgres, DuckDB, Databricks, AWS Aurora or similar)

  • Broad experience with data streaming technologies, combining sources from adhoc batches through to real-time streams

  • Experience establishing and developing ETL/ELT tooling (Dagster, dbt, AWS Glue, Airflow or equivalents)

  • Experience developing and maintaining API endpoints and data interfaces for developers

  • Understanding of Node.js and TypeScript, enabling you to work effectively with the broader technology development community

  • Experience with AWS-based data tooling

  • The ability to work with stakeholders to understand their goals and turn them into data products

What’s in it for you:

In addition to your competitive base salary, we offer an all-inclusive benefits package which includes our company-wide bonus scheme, 7% pension contribution, and private medical insurance. We offer a variety of share options and life assurance, and we have an impressive range of flexible benefits that you can tailor to your needs.

You’ll have access to heavily discounted flights for yourself and your loved ones, annual holiday vouchers, and a generous annual leave entitlement.

The role is full-time and based at our easyJet holidays HQ near Luton Airport. We operate a hybrid working model of 3 days per week in the office.
