Stress Analysis Engineer

Jackson Hogg is delighted to be recruting for an Stress Analysis Engineer to join a leading Engineering company based in Newcastle Upon Tyne. This role is full time and permanent, offering excellent progression opportunities, a competitive salary and additional benefits. The successful candidate will be joining a multi-disciplined integrity management team and will be involved in applying stress techniques, typically based around the ASME VIII-2 stress analysis approach, to assess of a range of assets including pressure vessels, piping and associated components and pipelines.
Main responsibiltiies:
Apply stress analysis techniques to perform complex assessments of defects
Model the behaviour of assets when subject to complex loading, such as loads experienced by a pipeline affected by ground instability.
Working with engineers and managers at all levels and from other disciplines within the business on commercial client projects
Communicate well with research and development
Requirements:
Degree qualified (minimum 2:1) with a relevant engineering degree.
Minimum of 5 year’s stress analysis experience
Knowledge of failure modes associated with metallic components and structures
Demonstrative experience working in a technical consultancy environment
Significant experience of FEA and CAD software, Abaqus preferred
Experience of performing hand calculations to verify finite element analysis results
Demonstrative ability to problem solve and troubleshoot to provide sustainable solutions to often complex technical challenges
Excellent Presentation skills, including experience presenting to clients
Knowledge of Oil & Gas Industry, with experience in pipelines / pressure vessels advantageous.
Understanding of asset integrity management with sound knowledge of basic principles
Chartered Engineer, or actively working towards it
