Senior Electronics Design Engineer

The RoleWe are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Electronics Design Engineer to join an established engineering and technology business delivering bespoke electronic solutions for a range of OEM customers.This is a hands-on design position focused on technically challenging hardware projects. The successful candidate will take ownership of designs from initial concept through to a proven, manufacturable product, working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams.The role will cover the full product lifecycle, including requirements, architecture, circuit design, PCB development, testing, validation and production.This is an ideal opportunity for an engineer who wants to remain technically hands-on, rather than move into a predominantly management-focused position.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn hardware designs from concept through to productionInterpret customer requirements & specificationsCarry out circuit design & component selectionComplete worst-case analysis & simulationWork closely with PCB layout engineersCarry out board bring-up, testing & fault findingDesign for manufacture, test & complianceSupport EMC, safety & qualification testingProduce technical documentation, specifications & test plansLead and participate in design reviewsProvide technical input for quotations & proposalsAttend customer technical discussionsIdentify and communicate technical risksProvide technical support and mentor less experienced engineersKey Skills & ExperienceEssential:Commercial electronics design experienceProven designs taken from concept to productionStrong analogue & digital electronics experienceExperience with microcontrollersSchematic capture – AltiumStrong structured approach to electronics designConfident with laboratory testing, measurement & fault findingExperience working with PCB layout engineersStrong technical writing & documentation skillsExperience with FMEA & structured problem solvingExperience with approvals & validationAbility to manage project timingsAble to work autonomouslyEligible to obtain and hold UK Security Clearance (SC)Full UK driving licenceDesirable SkillsSwitched Mode Power Supply designExperience with 8, 16, 32 & 64-bit microprocessorsEMC testing & designProgramming experience or awarenessVersion controlCAN, Ethernet, RS485 & USBCAN/Ethernet diagnosticsExperience working across multiple clients/projectsSignal Integrity & Power Integrity knowledgeExperience designing to recognised standards/regulationsExperience mentoring junior engineersCurrent or previous UK Security ClearanceThe PackageCompetitive salary25 days' holiday + bank holidaysHybrid / remote workingCompany pensionFree parkingPrivate healthcare following successful probationLife insurance
