Job Description

Estimator - Leeds

Based in the company's Leeds office and reporting directly to the Commercial Director, the Estimator will be responsible for preparing robust time and cost estimates for new work enquiries within an established medium-sized main contractor.

The role will involve pricing a diverse range of opportunities, including high-value, long-term contracts and framework agreements, alongside one-off projects typically ranging from £100k to £5m.

Projects span a variety of sectors, including schools, universities, healthcare, bespoke builds and warehouses.

Key Responsibilities

Work closely with Operational and Commercial teams to develop competitive and commercially robust proposals.

Maintain accurate and detailed records of enquiry documentation, including site assessments, specifications and contract terms.

Manage multiple tenders and enquiries simultaneously, ensuring all submissions are completed accurately and within required deadlines.

Keep estimating, pipeline and reporting systems fully up to date.

Analyse enquiries within established estimating and tendering frameworks, identifying commercial and delivery risks and developing appropriate mitigation strategies.

Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients while identifying opportunities to develop new business.

Maintain a commercially focused and customer-led approach throughout the tender process.

About You

Previous experience working as an Estimator, Estimator/Quantity Surveyor or Tendering professional within the construction industry.

Experience pricing long-term service contracts and framework agreements.

Strong customer service and stakeholder management skills.

Excellent commercial awareness with a strong understanding of cost efficiency and risk.

Good IT skills, including a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Knowledge and experience of JCT and NEC contract submissions.

Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
