About the Business

A fantastic opportunity to join a fast-growing, acquisitive professional services business based in Solihull as a Financial Controller, paying £75,000 – £82,000 per annum. Leading the Management Accounts team, you’ll take real ownership of financial reporting across a range of products and services, working closely with a supportive Finance Director in a business that continues to scale quickly through acquisition.

Main Duties:

As a Financial Controller, your main duties include:

* Leading, coaching and developing a team of Finance Managers and Assistant Management Accountants, building capability and supporting succession planning

* Owning the month-end and year-end close process, setting the reporting timetable and coordinating deliverables across the team

* Reviewing monthly management accounts across multiple product lines and business units, ensuring accuracy, completeness and on-time delivery

* Partnering with the FP&A team on monthly variance analysis against budget and prior periods, proactively investigating and resolving issues with department heads

* Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the team, ensuring risks and issues are identified and cleared down

* Documenting and continuously improving accounting processes, procedures and controls

* Supporting the integration of newly acquired businesses into group reporting and finance processes

* Contributing to statutory and financial accounting activity, including supporting the year-end external audit

* Assisting with corporation tax submissions and R&D tax credit claims

* Supporting budgeting, forecasting and ad-hoc financial analysis alongside the FP&A team

* Championing the effective use of finance systems, including driving ERP and process improvements and the adoption of AI within the team

Location / Office / Culture

The role is hybrid, based at the company’s head office in Solihull, with the flexibility to work from home part of the week. This is a rapidly expanding, forward-thinking business that genuinely invests in its people and champions agile working.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

* ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified accountant — essential

* Proven experience managing, developing and motivating a finance team — essential

* Previous experience in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or senior Management Accounts role

* Strong Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems

* Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders

* Experience working with acquisitions is beneficial but not essential
