Administrator – Spider is advertising on behalf of a well-established, long-established and employee-owned independent academic publishing company who are looking for an organised and proactive Administrator to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis at their offices in Martlesham, Suffolk.
As an Administrator, you will provide essential administrative support across marketing, partnerships and business services, helping to ensure campaigns, events, office coordination and day‑to‑day processes run smoothly. This is a varied role where you will manage multiple priorities, support external events and conferences, respond to author and customer queries, assist with partnership activity and take ownership of core office administration, be one of the onsite first aiders and the main fire marshal (formal training will be provided). Working hours for this role will be 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday based in the office in Martlesham.
As an Administrator, you will have previous experience in an office or administrative role, with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload independently. Prior first aid or fire marshal experience would be advantageous but not essential as training will be provided. You will be reliable, proactive and solutions‑focused, with excellent attention to detail and a high level of administrative accuracy. You will have strong written and verbal communication skills and be confident working with colleagues and external stakeholders. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential, alongside the ability to adapt to changing priorities and contribute positively as part of a wider team. Previous experience within publishing is not essential, and candidates with transferable administrative experience from other sectors are encouraged to apply.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a long‑established, independent and employee‑owned academic publishing company where employees have the opportunity to contribute to the wider organisation and share in its success.
As an employee‑owned business, staff members are entitled to a share of company profits through the dividend share scheme, alongside a supportive working environment, opportunities to get involved in company committees and access to industry resources and events.
