Senior AWS DevOps Engineer

• Lead the design, build and evolution of secure AWS cloud infrastructure and DevOps capabilities• Design and maintain scalable, secure and automated CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or GitHub• Own infrastructure-as-code approaches using Terraform• Define and promote engineering standards, patterns and best practices across delivery teams• Embed automation across build, test, deployment and operational workflows• Apply DevSecOps and security-by-design principles throughout the delivery lifecycle• Design, deploy and operate containerised workloads using Kubernetes and AWS services such as ECS and EKS• Work with architects and security specialists on cloud architecture, networking, identity, security and integration requirements• Implement monitoring, observability, logging and alerting for resilient services• Provide technical leadership during complex troubleshooting and resolution of infrastructure and deployment issues• Engage with clients and technical stakeholders to understand requirements, explain technical decisions and provide recommendations• Mentor and support engineers, encouraging knowledge sharing and continuous improvement• Identify opportunities to improve engineering practices, automation, reliability and delivery efficiencyRequirementsCandidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain SC clearance; current SC clearance is highly desirableSignificant hands-on experience designing, building and operating solutions within Amazon Web Services (AWS)Strong knowledge of AWS compute, networking, identity, security and container servicesStrong experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or GitHubDemonstrable expertise with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code at scaleStrong understanding of Kubernetes architecture and operating containerised workloads in cloud environmentsGood understanding of DevSecOps, OWASP principles and security-by-designExperience designing and implementing monitoring, logging and observability solutionsStrong scripting skills using Python, Bash, PowerShell or similarExperience making technical design decisions and providing engineering leadership within multidisciplinary teamsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across complex cloud environmentsConfidence working directly with clients and communicating technical concepts, decisions and recommendationsExperience working within Agile delivery environmentsExperience supporting and mentoring other engineersAWS Professional-level certification, such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional or Solutions Architect – Professional, is desirableStrong experience delivering solutions for public sector, defence or other regulated clients is desirableExperience working within secure environments and understanding associated security and assurance requirements is desirableExperience contributing to technical designs, architecture decisions and engineering standards is desirableCore CompetenciesDemonstrates expertise in designing and operating secure AWS cloud infrastructure, implementing CI/CD pipelines, and applying DevSecOps principles.
