Job Overview
In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement innovative software solutions that integrate with robotics systems.
Responsibilities:
Design and develop software applications and algorithms for robotics systems using modern OO languages (C# and C++) or embedded code (C)
Collaborating with electronics, mechanical and systems engineers to integrate software with hardware components and robotics platforms
Writing technical design documentation
Requirements
Experience in software development, with a focus on robotics or autonomous systems.
Proficiency in modern OO languages (C# and C++) or embedded code (C).
Solid understanding of robotics principles, including kinematics, dynamics, and control theory.
Experience with robotics frameworks and middleware such as ROS 2 (Robot Operating System 2), Maxon digital position controllers and familiarity with QNX, VxWorks or Linux.
Skills/Personal Qualities:
A desire to push for continuous improvement and deliver quality software
An enthusiasm for working collaboratively as part of a team including using test-driven development
Excellent communication skills
Desirable qualifications
Good academic track record with a degree or postgraduate qualification in computer science or engineering.
Previous experience in working in a technology consultancy company
A Day in the Life
While you will be expected to be hands-on with the code, you will have the opportunity to be involved in defining the solution architecture, setting technical standards, and researching new approaches and technology options.
Projects range in length anywhere from a couple of months to a couple of years. Typical projects will use a talented and collaborative cross-disciplinary team that provides insight into best practice product development in electronics design, mechanical design, software design and of course product/software design.
Your work will be based at our Sagentia Innovation offices in Harston, Cambridge with opportunities for short travel to client sites in Europe or USA.
You will enjoy a fast-paced environment in which we solve a variety of challenges for different clients.
