Key Responsibilities
Responsible for automating virtual CAE techniques for battery, fuel cell, electric drive unit and IC engine durability. Powertrain CAE requires robust and repeatable processes to support the digital product development phase. The application of such tools is used to assess and optimise design solutions as well as validating the design prior to the hardware release.
Develop tools and techniques which enhance speed, capability, improve quality and robustness of virtual models.

Develop coding to automate new and existing CAE process to reduce time and improve quality.
Determine automation and optimisation requirements, metrics and targets.
Identify process short comings and opportunities to improve.
Support department prevent reoccurrence process identify CAE failures and undertaking annual projects to resolve.
Support methods reviews as appropriate contributing ideas.
Support agile ceremonies such as start-up, backlog refinement, retrospective and sprint planning.
Present achievements at showcases.
Support internal customers of our business where necessary.
Support software vendors, universities and engineering service providers when necessary.
Support outsourced methods projects as required.
Support the training of CAE members.
Support familiarisation of CAE members with CAE automation processes.
Support the design, development workstreams within the scope of the engineering development projects.
Conduct the analysis / simulations and development with utmost quality within agile framework.
Dynamic & static attribute targets to be integrated into the product design assessment. Support prototype design freeze activities for customer applications, support customer production / prototype sites & liaise with their engineering team.
Develop and deliver new process training material.
Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested.
Support issue resolution and warranty activity as required.
Undertake virtual verification of the PT units as required.
Skills Knowledge and Experience
Essential:
Excellent understanding of process automation and optimisation, including pre-processing and post-processing automation.
Working knowledge and experience of CAE methodologies.
Previous experience and background in solving complex technical ideas and challenges.
Previous experience of delivering engineering or analytical projects.
Competent in the use of the following software and associated pre and post processing packages
VBA / MATLAB / Simulink / Python / JAVA /
Experience using similar software packages will be considered.
Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Desirable:
Previous experience in any of the following CAE software:
FEA: DS Abaqus
CFD: Star CCM+, GT Power
Meshing: PreHypermesh, Simlab
Previous experience of battery / electric drive units and internal combustion component / system level development using CAE to meet defined performance targets.
Experience in continuous improvements to business processes to support customer service and financial objectives.
Experience in advanced physical measurement techniques.
Experience in proposing product modifications to improve design.
Experience working in AGILE.
