SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School
Location: Newham & Surrounding Areas

About the Role

Looking for your next opportunity as an SEN Teaching Assistant in Newham?

Destination Education is currently working with a range of welcoming and supportive mainstream primary schools across Newham and the surrounding areas, and we are expecting a variety of exciting SEN Teaching Assistant opportunities to become available.

For this particular opportunity, we are looking for someone with extensive SEN experience who is confident supporting pupils with additional needs and can make a real difference within the classroom.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to provide tailored support, helping pupils access their learning, develop their independence, and reach their full potential.

This role would suit an experienced SEN professional who is confident working with a range of needs and understands the importance of providing consistent, individualised support.

Key Responsibilities

Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN.
Support pupils to access the curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities.
Help develop pupils' confidence, independence, and social skills.
Adapt activities and resources to meet individual needs.
Support positive behaviour and promote an inclusive classroom environment.
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support team.
Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
Build strong, positive, and trusting relationships with pupils.The Ideal Candidate

Has extensive experience working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs.
Has previous experience working within a primary school setting.
Is confident supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
Has a patient, caring, and resilient approach.
Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Is able to build strong and trusting relationships with pupils.
Is proactive, adaptable, and confident working as part of a wider school team.
Has a genuine passion for supporting children to overcome barriers to learning.What Destination Education Offers
