Electronics EngineerLocation: Bristol with weekly site visits to Templecombe – Full Time – HybridReporting to: Practice LeadScopeDesign, develop, modify and support electronic hardware systems used in underwater communication and sensor platforms, with a focus on obsolescence management, redesign and lifecycle support within a regulated, safety-critical environmentRoleThe Electronics Hardware Engineer will support obsolescence-driven redesign and sustainment activities across underwater systems and communication platforms.The role involves redesigning electronic hardware while maintaining form, fit and function, supporting integration, testing, manufacturing and in-service activities across the full product lifecycle.ResponsibilitiesLead obsolescence redesign activities for legacy and in-service electronic systemsIdentify and replace obsolete components while maintaining form, fit and functionDesign and modify digital and mixed-signal PCB schematicsIntegrate microcontrollers, processors, FPGAs, power supplies, RF interfaces and communication modulesSupport hardware enhancements, system integration and signal integrity activitiesCollaborate with firmware, systems, mechanical, manufacturing and supplier teamsExecute hardware testing, validation, troubleshooting and integration activitiesProduce technical documentation and support design reviews and ECR/ECN processesWork within PLM systems such as WindchillSupport manufacturing, prototyping, qualification, production and in-service lifecycle activitiesEnsure designs comply with DFM/DFT and regulated engineering standardsRequired ExperienceExperience in electronic hardware design, redesign and obsolescence managementBackground supporting legacy or safety-critical electronic systemsPCB schematic design experience for digital and mixed-signal hardwareExperience replacing obsolete components while maintaining system compatibility and performanceExperience across the full hardware product lifecycleBackground in hardware integration, testing, validation and troubleshootingExperience working with manufacturing, suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teamsFamiliarity with configuration management and engineering change processesRequired SkillsElectronic hardware and PCB schematic designObsolescence management and component replacementKnowledge of microcontrollers, processors, FPGAs, RF interfaces and power suppliesSignal integrity, debugging and root cause analysisHardware testing and use of laboratory equipmentTechnical documentation and reportingUnderstanding of DFM/DFT principlesFamiliarity with ECR/ECN processes and PLM systems such as WindchillStrong analytical, problem-solving and communication skill
