Contract: Initial 6 Months – Strong Likelihood of ExtensionWorking Pattern: 3 Days Onsite in Newcastle / 2 Days from HomeProject: UK GovernmentSponsorship: Not AvailableSecurity Clearance: Not Required – Existing SC Clearance is a BonusThe OpportunityWe are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join a major technology programme delivering services into a UK Government environment.This is an initial 6-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension, based in Newcastle upon Tyne with a hybrid working arrangement of 3 days onsite and 2 days working from home.The role would suit a DevOps Engineer with strong experience across AWS, CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code, particularly AWS CDK.Security clearance is not required, although candidates who already hold active SC Clearance would be particularly welcomed.Please note that sponsorship cannot be provided, so candidates must already have the right to work in the UK.Key ResponsibilitiesBuild, maintain and improve cloud infrastructure within AWSDevelop, maintain and optimise automated CI/CD pipelinesBuild and manage Infrastructure as Code using AWS CDKSupport the deployment and operation of cloud-based applications and servicesAutomate infrastructure provisioning, configuration and deploymentWork closely with Software Engineers, Platform Engineers and wider technical teamsTroubleshoot infrastructure, deployment and application issuesSupport monitoring, logging and overall platform reliabilityImplement DevOps, cloud engineering and security best practicesContribute to continuous improvements across development and deployment processesWork within the governance and security requirements of a UK Government environmentCore Technical ExperienceStrong commercial experience with:Scripting and automationExperience across some of the following would also be beneficial:AWS – EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch and CloudFormationGitHub Actions / GitLab CI / JenkinsMonitoring and observability toolingAutomated testing and deploymentCloud security and IAMPrevious experience working on UK Government or public-sector programmesExperience within secure or highly regulated environmentsStrong understanding of cloud security and DevOps best practicesSellick Partnership is proud to be an inclusive and accessible recruitment business and we support applications from candidates of all backgrounds and circumstances.
