Teaching Assistant - supply

Location: Central Brighton

Salary: £120 per day

Contract: Full-Time

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

Start Date: Immediate

We are seeking a dedicated, resilient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a highly supportive Alternative Provision in Brighton. This is an excellent opportunity to work with young people who may have experienced barriers to learning and require additional support to achieve their educational and personal goals.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping students develop confidence, engagement and a positive attitude towards learning, whilst working alongside a committed team of education professionals who are passionate about improving outcomes for young people.

Whether you have previous experience within education, youth work, care, mentoring or a similar support role, this position offers the opportunity to make a genuine impact every day.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support students both in and out of the classroom. You will help create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, supported and encouraged to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

Support teachers in delivering engaging, inclusive and effective lessons.

Encourage and motivate students to participate positively in learning activities.

Provide targeted academic and pastoral support to students, including those who may display challenging behaviour.

Help maintain a calm, structured and nurturing learning environment.

Support the implementation of individual education, behaviour and support plans.

Monitor student engagement, progress and wellbeing, providing feedback to teaching staff.

Build positive, professional relationships with students to promote confidence, resilience and achievement.

Participate in training, staff meetings and ongoing professional development opportunities.

Uphold safeguarding procedures and contribute to the overall wellbeing of students.
