Role: Learning Support Assistant

Start Date: September or October 2026

Location: Hampshire/Surrey borders

Contract Term: Permanent

Salary: £16,000 - £19,000

A leading independent school in Hampshire on the Surrey and Berkshire borders is seeking a Learning Support Assistant from September or October 2026. This is a full time and permanent role.

This independent special school is dedicated to supporting children with a range of additional needs. They pride themselves on their nurturing environment, creative curriculum, and highly collaborative approach - ensuring every pupil feels understood, valued, and empowered to reach their potential.

Standard working hours - Monday to Thursday 8.30-4pm and Friday (phone number removed)pm

* Under the teacher’s clear guidance, to support the education, personal and social development of pupils in the class including those with special needs and to establish a positive relationship with pupils.

* To undertake activities to assist in monitoring the personal, social and emotional needs of pupils.

* To develop positive relationships with pupils to assist pupil progress and attainment.

* To assist in the devising of pupils’ individual targets and their monitoring and review.

* Support pupils as part of a planned inclusion programme.

* To support the child at playtime as necessary.

The Head is looking for someone who has experience of working with children, has a cheerful and positive outlook, is patient and has the ability to remain calm and works as part of a team.
