Platform Engineer
Manchester
Permanent, full time
Hybrid (min 3 days a week on site)

Cyber
Our National Security Cyber business delivers mission-critical solutions that safeguard our national security 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Working in a mature, agile environment, our SCRUM teams work synchronously with our customers to solve some of the toughest digital challenges faced in the world today.
Role & Responsibilities
Work as a Platform Engineer, deploying applications and software to cloud or on-prem environments for our many business areas.
Due to the interesting work we do and the sector this team is working in, we require all candidates to be willing to attain an eDV clearance.
Building and setting up development tools and infrastructure

Understand the needs of project stakeholders

Automate and improve development and release processes

Ensure that systems are safe and secure against cyber security threats

Identify technical problems and develop software updates and solutions

Work with other engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended

Required experience
Experience of working in an Agile/SCRUM/DevOps delivery model

Cloud technologies (AWS or Azure)

Infrastructure as code e.g. Terraform, Puppet, Chef, Ansible etc.

Experience in building and deploying large-scale applications in

Continuous Integration/Delivery pipelines;

Container platform and orchestration systems ECS, AKS,

Kubernetes/helm/Docker

Experience in automation and integration tools such as Jenkins,

Concourse CI or cloud equivalents

Experience in scripting languages and source control
